crash vuelta 2021 - Vuelta 2021: Withdrawalsfoto: Cor VosLa Vuelta set off on Saturday 14 August with 184 contestants - 42 of them did not reach the finish line in Santiago de Compostela. Cyclingstage.com kept track of the riders who were forced to pull out.

Alexander Cataford crashed in the finale of the 2nd stage. Although he did reach the finish line, he suffered a broken collarbone and did not continue the race on day three. Frederik Frison pulled out with a fever. They were the first two withdrawals.

Hugh Carthy and Alejandro Valverde were the first big names to abandon on the seventh day of action.
