Tour of Valencia 2019: Trentin sprints to win in stage 2, Boasson Hagen retains lead
Stage 2 of the Tour of Valencia takes in three intermediate climbs, yet it still comes down to a bunch sprint. Matteo Trentin storms to victory, while Edvald Boasson Hagen retains the GC lead. (Slideshow route/profile)

Race report
The breakaway features continental riders only: Diego Rubio, Mikel Iturria, Ibai Azurmendi, Nigel Ellsay, Mathias van Gompel, Diego Pablo Sevilla, Joan Bou and Raul Alarcon. Rubio is the first rider at the crest of the first two KOM climbs.
The eight open up a maximum gap of almost 3 minutes, but are reeled in with 48 kilometres remaining. Sprinter Dylan Groenewegen is dropped on the last climb, Alto de Carrasqueta.
Groenewegen is brought back in contention with 15 kilometres to go, but to no avail. The Dutch sprinter is invisible, while Matteo Trentin outpowers Nacer Bouhanni and Ben Swift on the line.
