Tour of Valencia 2019 Route stage 1: ITT in Orihuela

Tour of Valencia 2019 Route 1st stageWednesday 6 February - The Tour of Valencia celebrates the start of its 70th edition with an individual time trial of 10.2 kilometres. The flat route in Orihuela concludes with a short and sharp climb to the line.

The 2018 Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana – as the Spaniards call the race – included a team time trial, which was neutralized due to strong winds. Possibly this prompted the organisation to include an individual time trial this year.

Start and finish are in Orihuela, a town at the base of the Sierra de Orihuela and close to the Mediterranean. The route is flat, except for the last 600 metres to the Seminario Diocesano de San Miguel. The zigzagging climb slopes at 9%.
