Race report
Iurani Blanco initiates the breakaway after almost 20 kilometres. Agnieszka Skalniak-Sójka and Gaia Masetti go with her. The attack doesn’t last very long.
Cristina Tonetti is the next attacker. She opens up a 1 minute lead and earns most points at the first KOM, Maasdeltatunnel. Moments later, she is swallowed by the bunch.
The stage comes down to a bunch sprint. Pre-race favourite Lorena Wiebes suffers a mechanical with 500 metres to go, while Charlotte Kool powers to a commanding victory, a few bike lengths ahead of Anniina Ahtosalo and Elisa Balsamo.
Obviously, Kool is the first GC leader.
