Tour de France 2020 Favourites stage 5: Strong sprinters on false flat finish

The 5th stage on the Tour de France runs on an undulating route to a false flat finale.

So extra power will come in handy on the finishing straight in Privas. That, and a perfect timing, as the last few hundred metres runs false flat uphill.

Arguably, Peter Sagan is the man to beat. Last year, the multiple World Champion outgunned Wout van Aert and Matteo Trentin at the end of a race through the Vosges Mountains. It turned out to be his only win on the 2019 Tour de France, while he won three stages in 2018.

A lot of fast finishers chose to participate in the Giro this year, which obviously increases the chances for the sprinters who do race the Tour de France.

Alexander Kristoff took the sprint finish at the end of the rain-soaked 1st stage, while Caleb Ewan outgunned Sam Bennett in Sisteron on day three.

Actually all 5 stages were won by cyclists, who get 3 stars in cyclingstage predictions. Even Adam Yates got 3 stars in overall predictions. It seemed to be too much before the race. I thought he was overrated. Surprisingly, he wears yellow jersey! Cyclingstage is on fire, perfect bets.
