Tour de France 2014 Route stage 20: Bergerac – Périgueux
Saturday, July 26th – Just one time trial in the 2014 Tour but it's a long one at 54 kilometres. Will it be decisive? (Slideshow route/profile)
Time trial day and possibly the day the Tour is decided if the time gaps are small. It’s the third time the Tour has visited Bergerax and each time it was for a time trial. The first of those was also towards Périgueux in 1961 but the distance was a ludicrous 75.4 kilometres. That race was won by ‘Mr Chrono’ Jacques Anquetil. On the second occasion in 1994, the race went in the opposite direction. Again the race was won by the best time trial rider of the era; Miguel Indurain.
The route heads with a left bend to Périgueux, more to the north of France. The ride is flat, but at 54 kilometres is quite long. Tony Martin and Fabian Cancellara.
The first rider will start at 10:51 (CET) and Vincenzo Nibali at 16:27.
