Summer Olympics 2021 Tokyo: Route road race – women
Sunday 25 July - At 137 kilometres, the women's road race of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo features 2,692 vertical metres. Most elevation is gained at the long and gradual climb up Doushi Road, while the finale is played out at the Fuji International Speedway.
While the men tackle the lower slopes of Mount Fuji and the steep Mikuni Pass, these key climbs are removed from the women’s race. Still, the race features 2,692 climbing metres.
The race kicks off in the Musashinonomori Park of Chofu, a western suburb of Tokyo, and goes in southwesterly direction to Doushi Road. A sheer endless false flat runs onto the first classified climb, which is 5.9 kilometres long and slopes at 5.7%. The route continues along the stunning Yamanakako Lake to crest the Kagosaka Pass almost 20 kilometres later.
Following the Kagosaka Pass the route descends to the Fuji International Speedway, where the riders complete one lap before the finish.
