Race report
Bais, Zana, Whelan and Frapporti attack from the gun to open up a gap of more than 9 minutes.

Whelan goes solo on the Millota-climb. The Austrlian reaches the summit alone before he is reeled in by the peloton inside the last 14 kilometres.

Although the last kilometres feature a steep kick up the race comes down to a sprint finish. Démare powers to a commanding victory, bike lengths ahead of Matthews and Felline.

Almeida says in the overall lead.
