After a transfer of a little under 60 kilometres, today’s start is in the town of Frosinone, located 75 kilometres south-east of Rome. The bunch literally passes beside the capital of Italy and cycles in an almost straight line to the finish in Foligno, near Perugia.
Although it is almost certain that the town of Foligno (photo) will see a bunch sprint, this does not mean riders aiming for the mountains classification will have a day off. Points are up for grabs early on on the Valico di Arcinazzo (1,007 metres) and 42 kilometres from the finish on the the Valico della Somma (646 metres).
