Riemst is a regular host of the BinckBank Tour. Mostly, the riders face a lumpy route when the flag drops in the small Belgium town, but this time the roads are predominantly flat. Muizenberg is the only uphill of the day and the 650 metres at 6.6% are crested at kilometre 10.5.
The BinckBank Tour moves through The Hoge Kempen National Park before entering the Netherlands. With 45.3 kilometres remaining, the riders cross the line for the first time to continue with three local laps.
Last year’s ITT was played out in Venray with Stefan Küng outpowering Victor Campenaerts and Søren Kragh Andersen. Two years ago, Peter Sagan won the bunch sprint in Venray.
Starting at kilometre 174.9, the Golden Kilometre serves three opportunities to gain time bonuses of 3, 2 and 1 seconds within 1,000 metres. The first three riders on the line take 10, 6 and 4 seconds.
