Vuelta 2016 Route stage 1: Laias – Castrelo de Miño (Ourense)
Saturday, August 20, 2016 - For the sixth time in a row, La Vuelta a España begins with a team time trial. At 27.8 kilometres, the course leads along the Castrelo do Miño reservoir.
The TTT is near Ourense, in the Galicia region in northwestern Spain, host of no less than four stages in the 2016 Vuelta. Galicia is an autonomous community with a rich culture, stunning nature, world-class gastronomy, and its own language: Gallego. Famous pilgrimage Santiago de Compostela is one of many attractions in Galicia.
Today’s 27.8 kilometres TTT is nothing like last year’s 7.4 kilometres beach race in Marbella. In 2016, the ‘contrareloj’ is all about team work and pure speed. Just like a time trial should be.
