Tour of Valencia 2020 Route stage 5: Paterna - Valencia

Tour of Valencia 2020 stage 5Sunday 9 February - The 5th stage of the Tour of Valencia starts in Paterna and runs to a likely sprint finish in the streets of Valencia. The route amounts to 98 kilometres.

The last three editions of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana all ended with a stage from Paterna to Valencia. As the route is almost entirely flat a sprint finish is next to certain. Last year, Dylan Groenewegen outgunned Alexander Kristoff and Matteo Trentin in a close finish, thus succeeding Jürgen Roelandts. Three years ago, Bryan Coquard took the spoils.

Although the last stage of the 2016 race did not start in Paterna, the finale was similar. Stijn Vandenbergh pulled it off and he stayed ahead of the chasing pack. Just metres behind him, Dylan Groenewegen outsprinted the main group.

Since the race returned to the UCI calendar in 2016, the Tour of Valencia always finished in the provincial capital.
