Race report
Simon Carr, Moran Vermeulen and Martí Márquez jump off the front to create the break of the day. Márquez puctures and the other two push on together for tens of kilometres before Sergio Samitier, Txomin Juaristi and Sebastian Schönberger round out the break of the day. The five open up a 3 minutes lead.
Simon Carr is the last attacker to be reeled in on the last climb of the day. Buitrago attacks while approaching the summit before he is caught by an elite group in the first part of the (false flat) downhill.
The runner-up on GC, Felix Gall, hits the deck just before entering the dry skating rink in Ritten. Leader Tao Geoghegan Hart stays upright and sprints to a commanding victory. Only Haig is able to follow his wheel, the rest of the group crosses the line 2 seconds later.
Twelve riders – among them Gall, Vlasov and Kämna – come home 29 seconds after the stage winner. Gall is given the same time as the second group.
