Race report
After 50 kilometres of relentless attacking a group of twelve riders jumps off the front. That’s the right move. Sütterlin, Hollmann, Vendrame, Milesi, Dombrowski, Lucca, Juaristi, Carboni, Bais (Mattia), Pöstlberger, Hajek and Johnston carve out a 6 minutes lead.
Pöstlberger and Vendrame attack in the run-up to the finish climb before the latter heads out alone as soon as the tarmac begins to rise. The Italian is overhauled by Dombrowski with 11 kilometres to go.
The lead of the American is down to 45 seconds when Kämna attacks from the GC group. Cepeda tracks him down and they gobble up Dombrowski.
Cepeda keeps on pushing in a bid to gain time on GC, while Kämna sits in his wheel to kick inside the last 600 metres. He wins the race 4 seconds ehead of the GC group. Geoghegan hart finishes in fourth to extend his GC lead.
alleen verder en hij pakt de zege. Een paar seconden later komt de favorietengroep over de lijn, aangevoerd door zijn ploegmaat Vlasov. Geoghegan Hart finisht als vierde en houdt de leiderstrui.
