Tour of Qatar 2014 Route stage 6: Sealine Beach Resort - Doha
Friday, February 14 – The closing stage leads from Sealine Beach resort to Doha Corniche. Apart from the individual time trial this is the shortest leg in the 2014 Tour of Qatar – 113.5 kilometers. (Slideshow route/profile)
In the closing stage the bunch is back again in Mesaieed, not only the arrival town of the 4th stage, but also well known because it was crossed at the very first day of the 2014 Tour of Qatar. The start is just outside the city limits in beach resort Sealine Beach. The riders pass the outer ring of Mesaieed and head north.
Just before entering the city of Doha the riders pass the town of Al Wakra, familiar as departure place in the 1st stage.
Ten times a local round in the centre of Doha closes the 13th edition of the Tour of Qatar. The bunch sprint is set to explode on Doha Corniche, the waterfront promenade stretching for several kilometer on the banks of Doha Bay.
The finish is at the same spot as last year. Back then Mark Cavendish took the opportunity and conquered his very first Tour of Qatar by winning his fourth bunch sprint in a row. In doing so he claimed the GC ahead of Brent Bookwalter and Taylor Phinney.
The stage starts at 11:40 (CET) and finishes approximately 14:15.
