Edition 2013 saw Mark Cavendish beat Markus and Kruopis in the bunch sprint in the long straight streets of Mesaieed. It was one out of 4 ManXpress victories last year.
Essentially stage 4 is a reflection of stage 1, with the first part of that leg omitted today. Another tiny difference: the start is not on Dukhan Beach but in the centre of the city of Dukhan.
Arrival town Mesaieed borders on the Persian Gulf. Until 1949 no one lived on this part of the coastline. At that time Qatar Petroleum built a tanker terminal and for a while the town housed the only deep water port in Qatar. That said, Mesaieed is anything but a metropolis with a population of less than 10.000.
The stage starts at 11:00 (CET) and finishes approximately 14:15.
