Race report
Alex Paton attacks from the gun and he is joined by Taylor Phinney and Connor Swift. The two push on together to drop Paton before they are reeled in themselves.
At km 28 Sylvain Chavanel, Connor Swift, Matt Holmes en Chris Froome open up a gap before Vasil Kiryienka and Emils Liepins go on the counter-attack. The former ITT World Champion goes alone and races to a lead of 30 seconds, but he obviously doesn’t make it all the way to the line.
The Tour of Britain’s final sprint comes down to a Caleb Ewan-Fernando Gaviria-André Greipel clash. Following two wins by the German the London victory goes to the Australian pocket sprinter by a clear margin.
