Stage 3 in 2013 started in Unley as well. That’s the only comparison, today’s route is totally different. As mentioned, today’s stage is one for the sprinters.
Starting in the outskirts of Adelaide, the riders head southwards. There’s an intermediate sprint in Echunga and after the only climb of the day, near Myponga, they arrive in the small coastal town of Normanville.
In the last 50 kilometers the riders cross the peninsula Fleurieu on their way to the finish line is in Victor Harbor. The wind may blow hard and contribute to the race in, for some, unwanted fashion. After all, we are in the vicinity of the Pacific.
In 2012 the Unley-Victor Harbor stage was almost identical as this stage, André Greipel was the winner.
The stage finishes around 2.55 pm (ACST).
