Tour de France 2023 Favourites stage 7: For fast men#3

Mark Cavendish - Tour de France 2023 Favourites stage 7: For fast men#3foto: Cor VosThere's little doubt that the fast men will have it their way in the streets of Bordeaux. The 169.9 kilometres long race features one easy climb with almost 40 kilometres to go. The rest of the parcours of stage 7 is flat. (Slideshow route/profile)

The last Tour de France finish in Bordeaux, in 2010, saw Mark Cavendish storm to victory. It would be something if the ManX Missile would do it again in the historic port city in the Gironde estuary. After all, it’s his last Tour. And he would beat Eddy Merckx’ Tour de France stage victory record to become the sole record holder with 35 stage wins.

It remains to be seen if he is able to pull off another win. He had to wait till the last day to win on the Giro d’Italia, while the sprinters in Italy were not as strong as in the Tour. In France he faces the crème de la crème of the sprinters’ guild. Ewan, Philipsen, Jakobsen, Groenewegen…

The first two bunch sprints were won by Jasper Philipsen, while Cavendish finished in fifth and sixth place.
