Tour de France 2022 Favourites stage 21: For fast men #5

Following eight laps on the Champs-Élysées circuit, the biggest bike race in the world comes to a stap at breakneck speeds. (Slideshow route/profile)

Last year, Wout van Art completed a remarkable triptych on the Champs-Élysées. After winning the mountain stage over Mont Ventoux and the ITT in Saint-Emilion, the Belgian stormed to victory on the cobbles in Paris.

Another Champs-Élysées sprint finish is next to certain. Le Tour finished with a fast finishers showdown for sixteen years in a row and there is no reason to expect a different outcome on Sunday 24 July.

What’s less certain – the numbers of fast men that are still on board after more than 3,000 kilometres of racing in three weeks time.

Fabio Jakobsen, Dylan Groenewegen and Jasper Philipsen are the most successful sprinters on this Tour. They won the 2nd, 3rd and 15th stage, respectively. Wout van Aert finished in second on all three occassions.
