Race report
A lot of movement from the gun. De Gendt is among the most active riders, but Kämna, Carapaz, Alaphilippe, Martin (Dan) and Izagirre (Gorka) make it into the breakaway. The five tackle the Madeleine with a lead of 6 minutes.

Bahrain McLaren sets the pace on the climb and Quintana drops back. Kämna can’t follow the pace in the lead group, while the lead of the remaining four is down to 1.30 minutes at the summit.

Martin loses contact in the descent and the other three enter the Loze 2 minutes ahead of the GC contenders. The scenario of the Madeleine repeats itself with Bahrain McLaren setting the pace.

Alaphilippe drops back when the gap of the leaders has fallen to 1 minute, while Carapaz heads out alone with 9.2 kilometres to go.

López accelerates with 4 kilometres to go. Roglic, Pogacar and Kuss react straight away, while Porte restores contact a little later. They catch Carapaz before Kuss jumps clear. López bridges across.

The Colombian goes alone with 2.4 kilometres left. Roglic attacks on the lower slopes with Pogacar on his wheel. Kuss helps his leader to distance Pogacar before the maillot jaune tries to make it across to the front of the race.

He does not make the final jump and ‘Superman’ wins the stage with a lead of 15 seconds. Pogacar finsishes in third, another 15 seconds down on the yellow jersey.

Roglic remains the GC leader and López moves up to third place.
