Paris - Nice 2016 Route stage 2: Contres – Commentry
Tuesday, March 8, 2016 – At 213.5 kilometres, stage 2 is the longest of Paris-Nice 2016. The course goes over rolling roads through central France.
Last year, stage 1 finished in Contres. In today’s departure place powerhouse Alexander Kristoff gloriously outsprinted his competition.
On undulating roads the pack races through the heart of France. Côte d’Estivareilles is the only serious climb (1.7 kilometres at 6.2%), but as the hill is crested with 50 kilometres left it will be merely a climb for the KOM-points and not influence the stage results whatsoever. Which is something that definitely does apply to the last 4 kilometres, as they are a false flat.
At the line, time bonuses are 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while two intermediate sprint come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds each.
