The route of the last stage of the 2019 Giro is fairly straightforward. The riders leave Verona to tackle a hill of 4.5 kilometres with an average slope of 4.6%. They reach the summit at kilometre 9.5, which also serves as the intermediate time check, and descent back into the city centre. The finish is near the Verona Arena, the Roman amphitheatre in Piazza Bra.
Roglic was in a class of his own in the Bologna time trial on day one. That race was shorter and the finish was atop a steep climb, yet he proved in the San Marino stage that he is a jack of all trades in terms of ITT. Moreover, the Verona time trial fits him like a glove.
Possibly, his only rival will be Campenaerts. The Slovenian fought an exhausting GC battle, the Flemish specialist is relatively fresh.
