Virtually the entire stage is in the valley, hence the flat profile. Riders are actually constant at around 250 metres above sea level. You can hardly think of a better stage profile if you are a sprinter.
Tirano is located on the Swiss border. With 8 kilometres done a small climb near Teglio takes the riders on a 6 kilometres climb at 8.3%. Then it’s back back into the valley again to follow the Fiume Adda River leading to Lake Como. With 30 kilometres left the Croce di Menaggio probably won’t bother the sprinters and next the riders cross over to Lake Lugano to prepare for what should be a massive sprint.
