Vuelta 2020 Route stage 18: Mos - Porto

Vuelta a España stage 18Thursday 3 December - The 18th stage on La Vuelta kicks into gear in Mos to travel to the third 'foreign' country of this edition. The race finishes in Porto, Portugal, where sprinters will have it their way.

For years, the Vuelta a España was the least geographically adventurous of the three Grand Tours, but in this edition the race ventures into three foreign countries. Following the start in the Netherlands and the 9th stage to the Tourmalet, France, the 18th stage crosses the border to neighbouring Portugal.

The Grande Partenza of the 1997 Vuelta was in Lissabon, but the Spanish Grand Tour never visited Porto.

The riders clip into their pedal in Mos, the Galicia town where Óscar Pereiro – Tour de France winner in 2006 after Floyd Landis’ disqualification – was born. It is only 20 kilometres before the caravan crosses the Portugese border and the riders continue further south for a likely sprint finish in Porto.
