Edition 73 of the Vuelta a España starts in Málaga on Saturday, the 25 of August 2018. As in previous years, the line-up consists of 22 teams, although the peloton is reduced to 176 riders since the Grand Tour teams will field eight riders rather than nine from 2018 onwards. No riders are confirmed yet for the 2018 Giro d’Italia, although Vincenzo Nibali en Alejandro Valverde hinted at targeting La Vuelta as a preparation for the Worlds in Innsbruck two weeks later.
