Race report
In a fast start the breakaway goes clear at kilometre 25. Joris Nieuwenhuis, Gianni Vermeersch, Clément Davy, Daryl Impey, Michael Schwarzmann, Kaden Groves and Michael Mørkøv carve out a lead of more than 3 minutes.
Nieuwenhuis can’t follow the pace and drops back into the peloton.
The lead is down to 1 minute at the foot of the finish climb. Vermeersch is the last attacker to be reeled in.
Yates attacks 3.2 kilometres before the line and Pogacar goes with him. Bilbao and Almeida come across after a 1 kilometre chase before losing contact again just before the flamme rouge.
Pogacar outsprints Yates to seal the GC victory. Yates and Bilbao round out the podium.
