The course of stage 6 is basically the same as last year’s closing stage, only difference being the start is at The Wave, an exclusive Muscat suburb build around Almouj Marina, a luxury yachting hub.
Two hurdles are in the road book. Al Hamriyah, 800 metres à 9,8%, and Al Jissah, 1,4 kilometres à 9%. That last hill is crested with 35 kilometres left, while the race closes with a local round Muscat.
Matrah Corniche is a wide and flat boulevard, making it a perfect place for a bunch sprint. Marcel Kittel (2012), Nacer Bouhanni (2013) and André Greipel (2014) proved the theory to be correct, until Matthias Brändle snatched a solo victory at Matrah Corniche in last year’s edition.
Time bonuses are 10, 6 and 4 seconds.
