Tackling twenty laps on a 4.5 kilometres circuit, the riders are battling it out in the heart of Adelaide. If the GC is not a foregone matter the race will be extra thrilling since the first three riders at the finish line earn 10, 6 and 4 bonus seconds. Moreover, at the eight and twelfth passage there are 3, 2 and 1 second to be gained at intermediate sprints.
Start and finish of the last stage are at King William Street, while riders eyeing op the KOM-classification should be wide awake at Montefiore Hill. At the short 2.53% climb KOM-points are to be gained in the tenth and fifteenth lap.
In recent years, the Santos Tour Down Under saw a bunch sprint on the final day. In 2013 and 2014 it was André Greipel outpowering the pack, while Drapac’s Dutchman Wouter Wippert sprinted to victory in 2015. He now rides for Cannondale.
The stage starts at 1:30 pm and is expected to finish around 3:30 pm – both local times.
