Mads Pedersen - Tour de France 2023 Favourites stage 19: Sprinters or attackersfoto: Cor VosStage 19 on the Tour de France is played out on an undulating route with a flat finale. If the race was scheduled in the first week it would have been a 100% sprinter's chance. Yet, with three days to go a successful breakaway is just as likely. (Slideshow route/profile)

The route goes either up or down during the entire day, although the gradients are gentle. Actually, the riders race from false flat to false flat section, while two ascents are KOM classified. The Côte du Bois de Lionge – 1.9 kilometres at 5.7% – appears early in the race and the Côte d’Ivory – 2.3 kilometres at 5.9% – is crested with 28 kilometres to go.

The riders then descent to Arbois before the final 21.8 kilometres are played out on the flat.

The elevation gain totals almost 2,000 meter.
