Race report
Tiesj Benoot, Nils Politt, Krists Neilands, Mathieu Burgaudeau, Alexis Vuillermoz and Quentin Pacher attack from the gun to open up a gap of 4 minutes. Then the peloton takes the reins.

Benoot misses a corner in the descent of the Côte de l’Aullagnier and loses contact.

Neilands, Vuillermoz and Pacher are the remaining attackers on the penultimate climb, the Côte de Saint-Léger-les-Mélèzes, when Neilands goes solo. The Latvian is brought back at the foot of the finish climb.

Rolland jumps clear with 4.5 kilometres to go and Nieve brings him back with around thirty riders on his wheel.

Primoz Roglic counters a late attack by Guillame Martin and sprints to the win. Tadej Pogacar finishes in second, Martin in third.

Julian Alaphilippe crosses the line in fifth to retain the yellow jersey.

Dark horses Emanuel Buchmann and Enric Mas lose 9 seconds, while Richard Carapaz, Sergio Higuita and Daniel Felipe Martínez finish another 17 seconds further behind.
