Tour de France 2016 Favourites stage 6: Who dares to spoil a Cav/Kittel party?

After a hilly 190.5 kilometres race the 6th stage could go two ways: either a party for sprinters or for escapees. It looks like the fast men are in favour when it comes to popping champagne as all hills are in the first 150 kilometres. (Slideshow route/profile)

The course features one 4rd category climb and two 3rd category climbs. The riders are at the top of the last one with 40 kilometres remaining. So basically nothing stands in the way of a bunch sprint.

The arrival in Montauban is as flat as can be, the perfect terrain for the likes of Cav and Kittel. In stage 1 Mark Cavendish outsprinted the German, it will be thrilling to see the fast men go head-to-head again on a similar arrival. Stage 3 saw Cav sprint to his second victory in this year’s Grande Boucle, while Kittel took the win – somewhat surprisingly – on the uphill sprint of stage 4.
