Tour de France 2016 Stage 6: Cavendish outsprints Kittel for third win, Van Avermaet retains in lead

The 6th stage on the Tour de France serves hills early on, but the finale is pan flat. As expected the race boils down to a bunch sprint. Mark Cavendish bests Kittel and McLay to power to his third win in this year's Grande Boucle. Greg Van Avermaet retains in the overall lead. (Slideshow route/profile)

Race report
Once the flag is dropped Arashiro and Barta are off and they race to a lead at over 4 minutes. For a while the gap lingers there, only to widen to over 5 minutes later on.

With 22 kms left the leaders are caught.

Cav powers to his third stage win in the 2016 Grande Boucle, besting Marcel Kittel and 24-year old New Zealand born Briton McLay.
