Tour de France 2016 Favourites stage 13: Dennis-Martin-Dumoulin tête-à-tête in ITT
Stage 13 in the 2016 Tour de France is an individual time trial in 37.5 hilly kilometres. Rohan Dennis, Tony Martin and Tom Dumoulin are the specialists in the discipline, yet GC guys Chris Froome and Richie Porte will be eyeing up their chances also. (Slideshow route/profile)
In the first of two ITT’s in the Tour de France the riders face 10.2 kilometres of climbing at 4.9%. The first climb is straight after the start and the last one leads to the finish line. This is the kind of terrain that suits Tom Dumoulin, albeit Rohan Dennis doesn’t shy away from a hilly section, while in 2014 Tony Martin won the last hilly ITT in La Grande Boucle.
The 2014 ITT was almost 20 kilometres longer than today’s. As far as the GC goes the results didn’t say much, as both Contador and Froome were out of contention at that stage.
