The 73th edition of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad will be held on Saturday, 24 February 2018. The race marks the opening of the Belgian cycling calendar and features a lot of climbs from the Tour of Flanders. The 2018 edition will be even more Flanders-like as the finale takes in both the Wall of Geraardsbergen and Bosberg. The race amounts to almost 200 kilometres.
Greg Van Avermaet won the 2017 edition ahead of Peter Sagan and Sep Vanmarcke. Both start and finish were in Ghent, which will be different in 2018 as the race travels from Ghent to Meerbeke. Sagan will not be competing the race in 2018.
The Omloop is the first race in the Flemish Opening Weekend, the other one being Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne.
