Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec 2022: Cosnefroy brings late attack home

Race report
Caruso, Van Tricht, Toumire, Gignard and Miles are the breakaway riders. The five open a maximum gap of more than 4 minutes.

The gap has fallen to 1 minute when Simmons attacks with 40 kilometer to go. Eenkhoorn, Piccolo, Tratnik and Clarke go with him. The five catch the breakaway 28 kilometers before the finish line. The peloton regroups not much later.

Gaudu attacks in the last part of the penultimate lap. Bardet rejoins his compatriot with Schmid in his wheel. More riders regain contact. It all comes together with 11 kilometres remaining.

Then Storer, Honoré, Van Hooydonck and Powless give it a go. Storer goes solo inside the last 7 kilometres. The bunch engulfs him 2 kilometres later.

Cosnefroy strikes 2 kilometres before the line. He holds off the chasers to win solo before Matthews outguns Girmay in the sprint for second place.
