Giro 2020 Favourites stage 14: Ganna versus Dennis

The Giro d'Italia treats the time trialists to three chrono tests. Who are the major contenders to win the second one, which takes place on an undulating to hilly route of 34.1 kilometres?

The toughest test on the road from Conegliano to Valdobbiadene is the Muro di Ca’ del Poggio. The 1.1 kilometre ramp at 12% appears as early as kilometre 6. An undulating section at the top and a false flat downhill leads onto 13 kilometres on the flat.

With 9 kilometres to go the course starts to climb again, although not as steep as before. The ascent of almost 6 kilometres goes up at shallow gradients – sometimes peaking out at 4 or 5% – before a short descent leads onto the finish climb of a few hundred metres.

World Champion Filippo Ganna was in a class of his own in the ITT on the first day of action, while his team mate and two time World Champion Rohan Dennis will want to set the record straight after a disappointing performance.
