Saturday, September 6 - In 200 kilometres stage 14 is the first in a triptych of tough mountain stages. The finish is uphill at La Camperona after a super-steep closing section. Attacker Ryder Hesjedal bests his fellow-escapee Oliver Zaugg in the final 100 metres, whilst Chris Froome takes seconds from GC leader Alberto Contador.

Saturday, September 6 – It’s climbers alert in the 200.8 kilometres leading from Santander to La Camperona. Riders are facing three mountains and the finish line is atop of the steep La Camperona.

Stage 14 is a drill only suited for climbers par excellence. After cresting two categorized mountains the deep finale goes up by over 14% for kilometres in succession, even touching a section of 19.5% just under the top. Fodder for the likes of Froome, Contador and Rodríguez.
