Wednesday 22 May - The 17th stage of the Giro is a big one. Four huge ascents, 4,200 climbing metres, and the race totals 159 kilometres. The Passo Brocon wraps things up with 12.2 kilometres at 6.4%.

The 17th stage of the Giro is yet another brutal test in the high mountains. The riders will conquer four alpine giants on the route from Selva di Gardena to the finish at Passo Brocon. The finishing climb is approached from two different sides. Attackers or GC riders, it's hard to predict.

Riders aiming to become the Giro's King of the Mountain should be wide awake in the 17th stage. The route includes five climbs for KOM points, adding up to a total of 135 points for a rider who would summit all KOMs in first position.

Riders with the ambition to win the maglia ciclamino won't gain points at the finish line. Winning the first intermediate sprint is a viable option, though, as they only have to survive the Passo Sella to do so.
