Giro 2020: Solo victory Ganna, Almeida retains pink

Filippo Ganna wins the long and exhausting 5th stage in the Giro from the breakaway. Patrick Konrad sprints to second place ahead of maglia rosa João Almeida, who extends the overall lead with a time bonus. Moreover, runner-up Jonathan Caicedo drops back in the GC.

Wednesday 7 October - At 225 kilometres, the 5th stage of the Giro is a hilly race from Mileto to Camigliatello Silano. The finale is a 25.6 kilometres climb before a 10 kilometres drop to the line.

Giro 2020 Favourites stage 5: Attackers on long last climb

The 5th stage of the Giro is a lumpy race with a long climb near the end. The Válico di Montescuro climbs for 24.2 kilometres at fairly shallow gradients before the last 11.6 kilometres go downhill.
