The route traverses the Valencia province from west to east. Following the start in Utiel – famous for its Utiel-Requena wine appellation – the first part of the route is lumpy, but while the riders are approaching the finale the terrain is getting more flat. Finishing venue Oliva is situated on the Mediterranean coast and boasts 8.5 kilometres of sandy beaches.
To the south of Oliva you’ll find Pego-Oliva Marsh Nature Reserve. It’s a swamp with surrounding rice fields, making it a perfect habitat for a wild variety of birds.
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint comes with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
