Vuelta 2021 Favourites stage 6: Finale for puncheurs

The first half of the race is played out on a lumpy route before the riders reach the Mediterranean. The second half couldn’t be more flat until the riders tackle the punchy finish climb to the Cullera Castle.

The finish climb is 1.9 kilometres long and averages 9.4%. The Vuelta visited at this place once before – 41 years ago. In 1980, Sean Kelly took the spoils.

The question that looms above the race is whether or not the breakaway will be given enough leash to fight for the stage win.
