Race report
Bakelants escapes just before the Madonna del Ghisallo. Bais, Novak, Garosio, Champion, Hamilton, Ghebreigzabhier and Orrico join him, while Campenaerts and Wellens track them down on the climb. The ten carve out a lead of more than 6 minutes.

Cosnefroy crashes hard in the peloton in the Roncalo descent and discontinues the race.

Om the Passo di Zambla Champion, Campenaerts, Orrico and Wellens can’t follow the pace. After several attacks from the peloton the gap of the remaining leaders fall below 1 minute.

The breakaway is caught with 55 kilometres remaining.

Nibali attacks on the Passo di Ganda before Pogacar, Sivakov and Bardet brings him back. Then Pogacar goes solo to open up a 30 seconds gap.

Masnada strikes from the chasing group featuring Adam Yates, Alaphilippe, Valverde, Woods, Bardet, Gaudu, Vingegaard and Roglic. The Italian tracks Pogacar down in the descent.

Back in the valley, the other eight close in to 30 seconds before they stop to work together and the gap extends to 1 minute.

Pogacar wins the sprint-à-deux in Bergamo before Yates sprints to third place.
