Race report
Maaike Boogaard, Mieke Kröger and Fien van Eynde are the first attackers. The latter two push on together before they are caught before the cobbles of the Lippehovenstraat.
Femke Markus strikes on the other side of the first two cobbled sectors. Rozanne Slik, Inga Čečuliene, Emilie Moberg and Amber Aernouts track her down.
The five are caught after the Edelare, while Audrey Cordon-Ragot strikes before the Taaienberg. The French rider opens up a gap of 50 seconds at the foot of the Kruisberg/Hotond. Soraya Paladin opens the chase on the Hotond part of the climb.
The Italian is brought back before the Oude Kwaremont, while the main group catches Cordon-Ragot on the climb.
Anna van der Breggen ups the pace and only seven riders are able to hold her wheel. Grace Brown attacks on the false flat section after the summit. Annemiek van Vleuten rejoins her, but regrouping takes place before the Paterberg.
Van Vleuten opens up a 5 seconds gap on the climb. Uttrup Ludwig, Brown, Vollering, Van der Breggen, Longo Borghini, Brennauer and Cavalli are chasing on the flat without getting closer.
Van Vleuten wins the Tour of Flanders for the second time in her career, while Brennauer outsprints Brown for second place.
