Tour of Flanders 2016 - women: Armitstead bests Johansson in sprint-a-deux

At 141 kilometres, edition 13 of the women's Tour of Flanders contains 10 hills. Right after cresting the penutimate climb, Oude Kwaremont, Emma Johansson and Elizabeth Armitstead attack. Race report
Despite several breakaway attempts the pack remains bunched for a long time. Then Thalita de Jong gives it a go, but she is brought back with 40 kms remaining.

Around 25 riders left in the peloton at the foot of the Oude Kwaremont and when cresting it’s down to 11 riders. Armitstead and Johansson attack, while Longo Borghini, Blaak, Van Dijk, Guarnier, Ferrand Prevot, Niewadoma, Van Vleuten, Ratto and Lichtenberg are forced to chase. The leading duo sill enjoys a tiny margin in the final hundred metres. Armitstead bests Johansson to make a brilliant season even better.
