A hamlet and quite literally so, that’s what arrival town Paracombe is. The place debuting in the Tour Down Under is home to under one hundred inhabitants. The riders arrive in Paracombe after a 143.2 kilometres stage leaving from Norwood, an Adelaide suburb.
With 50 kilometres done riders are near Lobethal to go for a local spin on a 25.7 kilometres circuit to be taken three times.
Just before arriving in Paracombe the route is peppered with a venomous climb – at Torrens Hill Road the average grade is 9.9% for 1.2 kilometres. Once atop it’s only 300 metres to the finish line. Whoever it is who wants to win the 2014 Tour Down Under, he definitely has to be wide awake in this closing section.
The finish is expected around 2:50 pm (ACST).
