Tour de France 2014: Stage 7 - Flat stage with tricky finale
Friday, July 11, 2014 -A long stage of 234.5 kilometres from Epernay Nancy. The devil is in the detail, with an almost entirely flat route culminating in a couple of not so sprinter climbs towards the finish. (Slideshow route/profile)
The riders have 214 kilometres of flat before the road turns upwards with the Côte de Maron 17 kilometres from the finish on. Not that it’s a brutal climb, but at 3.2 kilometres and 5%, it is possible to do some damage.
Closer to the finish is Côte de Boufflers, which may cause some problems for sprinters hopes. Boufflers is crested with 5.5 kilometres left and the climb itself is 1.3 kilometres at 7.9%.
