Friday, September 12 - Firm tailwinds aIong the coast will speed up the 180.5 kilometres stage between Salvaterra de Mino and Cangas. With 15 kilometres left riders are to crest a 2nd category climb and then it's mainly downhill. Degenkolb survives the climb, but it's not enough because power-rider Hansen takes his chances with 5 kilometres to go and soloes to victory. Degenkolb comes in second.

Friday, September 12 – Stage 19 leads from Salvaterra de Miño to Cangas de Morrazo. During 180.5 kilometers, riders cruise from the top of one hillock to the top of another. Twice the predictable scenery is broken when a real mountain looms, on both occasions in category 2.

Tomorrow the all-important final mountain stage to the steep Puerto de Ancares, so the GC men will keep a low profile. Looks like the 180.5 kilometres stage to Cangas do Morrazo opens not only ample opportunity to escapees but to a brilliant downhiller like Valverde as well. The route is marked by two 2nd category climb and a descending finale.
