Meaning, odds are that the GC riders will keep their powder dry. Stages 11 and 12, that’s where the GC action is expected to ignite. So, better to save energy for now.

Stage hunters will have free rein in stage 10. Obviousy, if you want to win one should no forget to put on your climbing legs in the morning. Given the far from intimidating gradients of the finish climb – 4.1% -, chances are that fast legs would come in handy too. If that’s your plan, you must be aware of the tricky home straight. The last few hundred metres go up at 7.1%.

Obviously, if you have the legs, it’s always better to drop your breakaway companions earlier – say, halfway up the Megève climb – and to solo to victory.
