Assuming ITT World Champion Filippo Ganna will makes his forst appearance on the Tour de France, the Italian powerhouse is the riders to watch. In 2020, he was in a class of hos own when it came to time time trials. He won all races in which he started. The flat to undulating course to Laval suits his characteristics just perfectly.
In addition to the battle for the stage honours, the ITT will also be the first crucial outing for the GC contenders. The likes of Geraint Thomas, Primoz Roglic and Tadej Pogacar should be able to put time into their rivals.
Obviously, the start list is not yet confirmed and it remains to be seen who is on form this summer, so we’ll update this article later.
